Disturbing Elements on Show
A creative development project by Rakini Devi with Mayu Kanamori and
Kenny Feather had a public showing at The Carlton Courthouse on Mon
30th June & Tues 1st July.
Inspired by research undertaken during Rakini Devi's 2007 Asialink
residency in India, Disturbing Elements explores the aesthetics of
Tantric Hindu iconography and the tenuous line that separates myth from
the reality of Indian current affairs. Sharing these interests is
photographer, journalist and documentary maker Mayu Kanamori. Kenny
Feather, one of the principle dancers and soloists in Rakini’s Kali Yuga (2004) and Threshold (2005), brings his unique artistry in Tai Chi martial arts and dance skills to the project.
