Shanghai Lady Killer
Tony Ayres' latest project, Shanghai Lady Killer is described as a “genre-bending, sword-fighting musical epic, addressing the West’s cultural imagining of the East…” This collaboration with the Stalker Theatre Company under the direction of Rachael Swain, is set in the Chinatown of a futuristic Australian city. It incorporates acrobatics, martial arts, dance and music in a spectacular work that re-interprets Wuxia and Western film noir for the stage. Featuring leading Chinese martial arts film star Wang Fei, Shanghai Lady Killer premiered at the Brisbane Festival, and moves to Melbourne. See the ABC's Art Nation story .
