Casting is currently underway for Shanghai Lady Killer, an intercultural, multimedia performance project devised by director, Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories) and Sydney-based physical performance company, Stalker.  Rehearsals  commence 10th August 2009.  Contact casting director This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with your CV and contact details.  She is seeking a dozen cast members, most with martial arts skills.  Read character descriptions below.

  CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

All cast must be available for rehearsals 10th Aug-18th Sept 2009 and 12th July-10th Sept 2010 followed immediately by touring in Australia and China from mid Sept till Mid Nov. International touring likely in 2011.

Lili
Lead female. Beautiful and with strong presence. Chinese or Chinese Australian acrobat and dancer. High level Wushu martial artist. Has minimal text in English.

Lili 2 (Role cast)

Dylan
Detective. Lead male. Australian, possibly older (weathered). Strong actor and martial artist. Has most of the text in the show.

Gina
The femme fatale. Beautiful. Able to act. Singer of torch songs in Mandarin and English.

Mayor John Wong
Chinese man aged 40+, brash, arrogant, charismatic. Actor with high level martial arts skills. Must be able to deliver text in English.

Fong
Young Chinese man, leader of martial arts school, good fighter, possibly specialising in flying fork or staff. Some text.

Jimmy
Young Chinese boy (10 to a small 13) with significant acrobatic skill. We will need two boys to have a double each night.

The China Dolls, chorus of three additional female acrobats with a range of martial arts skills.  Chinese folkloric dance skills or trampoline skills desirable.  Chinese or non-Chinese performers suitable.

John Wong’s chorus of three male guards/assassins with a range of martial arts skills: two with pole skills; one with trampoline skills.
