The inaugural Asia Pacific Screen Awards took place on the Gold Coast, Australia, on November 13, 2007, following deliberation by an International Jury headed by Indian actress and humanitarian, Shabana Azmi. The Awards is a collaboration involving CNN International, UNESCO and the FIAPF - International Federation of Film Producers Associations. 34 films were nominated from 19 countries.   Joan Chen was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Australian film The Home Song Stories.

Hit film Lucky Miles nominated for 6 IF Awards and 2 AFI Awards, is now available on DVD. This bittersweet comedy kick-starts when an Indonesian fishing boat unloads a group of Iraqi and Cambodian men on to a remote beach in West Australia. Three of them escape arrest and begin an epic journey into the heart of Australia.

 
Miss Saigon Miss Saigon

Cameron Mackintosh's  production of Boublil and Schönberg's musical Miss Saigon has completed an extensive Australian tour.   Set in the final days of the Vietnam War, Miss Saigon is an epic love story about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman.  The cast featured 34 Australian artists.

 
Oz Asia FestivalOzAsia Festival

The inaugural OzAsia Festival took place in Adelaide from Sept 22 - October 6, 2007.  Featuring remarkable performances from some of Australia's most eminent artists, including Performance 4A committee member William Yang, the Festival celebrates the work of Australians who identify with an Asian cultural heritage; collaborative work between Australian and Asian artists; and a cross-section of the cultures of Asia, both traditional and contemporary.
